CloudHQ Remains Laser-Focused on Building Data Centers Preserve Water Resources
Through continuous innovation and engineering improvements, CloudHQ is committed to reducing the environmental footprint of large-scale digital infrastructure.
Protecting water sources
Our FRA1 data center in Germany is in a drinking water extraction zone, an area where any leakage of fuels or chemicals could be disastrous and requires the most rigorous standards for pollution prevention. We take our permission to operate here extremely seriously, as a duty and as a demonstration that our design and development processes are robust and sustainable.
Reducing or eliminating the use of water is an evergreen focus for CloudHQ. We only use evaporative heat rejection where it allows us to conserve both land and energy.
In Ashburn, Virginia, our facilities that require the use of evaporative water for heat rejection will be served by grey water, a source of wastewater that is lightly treated and not fit for other use.
In Milan, Italy, our campus will use non-potable ground water and discharge excess to irrigation channels that serve nearby farmers’ fields, increasing the supply of water to sensitive land uses that would not have it otherwise while also reducing pressure on potable aquifers and overall energy consumption
CloudHQ is Proud to Create Good Jobs and Economic Opportunity in Our Communities
CloudHQ developments support a broad ecosystem of jobs and economic activity. From large-scale construction projects to long-term operations, our campuses generate employment opportunities for engineers, technicians, skilled trades, contractors, and local service providers. By partnering with regional suppliers and workforce programs, CloudHQ aims to strengthen the local economies in the communities where we invest.
CloudHQ Supports and Invests in the Projects that Matter to Each Community
Data center campuses represent decades-long infrastructure investments that contribute to the growth and stability of local communities. CloudHQ projects generate meaningful tax revenues that support public priorities like schools, transportation improvements, emergency services, and public facilities
CloudHQ Builds Partnerships through Transparency and Engagement
CloudHQ believes that responsible infrastructure development requires open communication and collaboration with local stakeholders. Throughout the planning, development, and operational phases of our projects, we engage with local governments, community leaders, and residents to ensure our campuses are aligned with community priorities. Our goal is to build trusted, long-term partnerships in every region where we operate.
As global demand for digital infrastructure continues to grow, CloudHQ remains committed to delivering resilient, efficient data center campuses while supporting the communities that host them.
